What is counselling?
Counselling is a service provided when you wish to make changes in your life and gives you an opportunity to make sense of your individual circumstances. A counsellor works with you to identify the choices for change and supports you during this process. This information is taken from the website of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, bacp.co.uk.
Who is it suitable for?
Counselling is suitable for anyone who feels that they are having difficulty in coping with their current situation and their usual coping strategies are no longer working.
Counselling gives an opportunity to talk to a qualified professional in a confidential and neutral environment. It allows the expression of concerns and feelings about problems that may be troubling you.
The counsellor’s role is to help you find your own solutions to your problems, and where appropriate, to explore the connections these problems might have to past experiences.
